Cedega lets you play Windows games on Linux. Get Cedega now.
As we enter the final stretch of Cedega 6.1 development, we
are wrapping up work on major features and new game support and have turned
our attention towards the final series of regressions. We are currently
focusing on some graphical enhancements in Neverwinter Nights 2 for lower
end video cards, and addressing installer and instability issues in
Civilization IV - Beyond the Sword. Check out The
Den below for more details on these issues and other improvements plus
some new workarounds and tips.
The Cedega Gaming Service is pleased to announce that the

So far in Cedega 6.1 we have added support for some of the hottest windows titles out there; Neverwinter Nights 2, Call of Duty 4, Spore Creature Creator, Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars, Team Fortress 2, Portal and even gotten Shader Model 3.0 and HDR support working in Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Some of these titles do still have a few issues but are in the most part playable out of the box. Most notably Neverwinter Nights 2 has some graphical corruption on all cards and some significant graphical corruption on NVIDIA 6XXX and 7XXX series of cards. We don't have a fix for this issue yet but as soon we do we will make a new beta release available or post a work around in the forums.
Some games we thought we had working but still have some items that keep them from earning the supported rating. For example Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword and Sins of a Solar Empire. However, we do have work arounds for some of the key issues. One of the biggest problems getting Beyond the Sword working in Cedega is getting it installed in the first place. There is a work around that can get this going, all you need to do is . . .
To learn about this workaround and more check out the complete article at The Den.
In the last installment of The Grape Vine we told you about some of our plans for improving the Member's only section at Cedega.com. As we mentioned, these updates are dependent on changes across the whole site. The first stage of these enhancements is taking place in the Cedega Games Database.
Modifications to 'playability' are already underway. We
have listened to your comments regarding the current rating system and are
implementing a new method that should make the rating system both easier to
use and understand yet provide even more of information you want and need
to know. Members will be able to submit more than a single working rating.
To start, we will provide the ability to rate how well both the installer
and gameplay for a given game works in Cedega. Once the core functionality
is in place we will work with the community on continued refinements that
will cover even more aspects of the game.
Moving beyond identifying games as 'working' or 'not
working', the updates will give give Members access to a game's known
issues, driver bugs, problems with distributions and known work arounds.
Members will even be able to share their own experiences with the entire
Cedega community. No more wading through forums, googling for strange error
messages and terms or trying random settings. Just head to the Cedega Games
Database and you will have that information and more at your fingertips
this Fall.
This isn't even all that we have in store for the Cedega Games Database but you're going to wait a little bit longer to learn about all of our plans.
